I listed some wl books in the multiple thread.  Someone ordered but failed to remove their RC's as I request in my post.  Am I correct in thinking if I cancel, they will go fifo.

If you decline the RCs, the offer should move on to the next members in line for those titles. If you want to cancel in such a way as to remove them from the system, I believe you'd have to accept the RCs first, and then cancel the transaction.

What Jimi said -- if you decline the RCs, your wish list books will be offered to the first person in the sending line.  If you accept the RCs then cancel the transaction, you are removing your offer of the book from the system.

Oh, and if the requestor cancels, your books will be offered to the first  person in the sending line too.  So Jimi nailed it.

I think you can also put your account on vacation hold, then decline the RC's.  Since your bookshelf is on hold, the book won't be offered.  Go to your bookshelf, put that book(s) on hold, and then take off the vac hold, that should preclude book(s) being offered to next-in-line and you won't have to cancel the order.

That's why I always say something like "if you have RCs for smoking or cats, please turn them off before requesting my books" when I post in the wl multiples threads.  So far it's worked.

I don't have any RCs on my account, but based on a *few*  of the WLed books I've received in that topic, I wish I did.  LOL

I'm not an RC kinda person, but I was tempted to make an RC that reads:

"If I order a WL book, it doesn't mean I'm desperate. It just means that it's something I desire to read.

I would prefer to wait in liine behind 500 people than to receive an unpostable WL book. "

LOL

Ok, color me confused....if I have I want to request one of your books...you expect me to delete my RC for smoking just to get your books.  So, in other words I can't have my RC in your world for requesting multiple books.  If I normally don't want books from a smoking home why just to get a wishlist multiple would I want books from a smoking home?

Christiy,

What would happen if you requested her multiples and she had to deny your RC's?  They would then go to FIFO and she would not save postage as she intended.  This is why most people say to have RC's turned off in that thread.  If you have an RC you should pm the person ahead about whetherr they will accept those cond. I would be able to meet a nonsmoking RC but maybe not a like new one.

The receiver is sometimes getting a WL book they might normally have to wait months for.  In my opinion, they should be the one to either pm the sender ahead about RC's, turn off RC's or not try to get the books from the wl multiple thread.

Not trying to be confrontational but that seems the most fair to me.

Christie,

It has nothing to do with "my world".  The rules of the thread state-

~ Please be aware that if you have Requestor Conditions on your account, you and the person offering the deal need to work that out *before* the book is posted to your Wish List, so that you can remove your RC's if needed!!  If the book is declined due to RC's, it is then passed on to the next person in line for that WL book through the FIFO system...thus making that book no longer eligible for a "multiples" deal.

I have no sense of smell, zero, zilch.... many of the books I list are from the FOL so I don't know their history.  Whether they smell from smoke, mold, perfume, etc, I wouldn't know, hence the "remove RC" I list in my post.

btw- there was no need to be snarky!!

I think most people getting books in the WL Mulitple topic realize that they need to have RCs turned off.  That's just part of how it works.

When you read a post and it specifically says "have RCs turned off" then it is simple:  It is up to you to decide if you want to take that deal or not, in order to leap frog over a long waiting list.   It seems pretty straightforward to me.  Nobody is forcing anyone to shop off the wishlist muliples topic.  LOL

Adrienne is not doing anything wrong at all.

In my post, BTW, I was talking about truly unpostable books......raggy, falling apart, binding coming loose kind of stuff.  Nobody should have to have an RC for that, simply because books like that are not postable in the first place .  :)

Laura - hopefully you are marking those RWAP. Just because people are offering them in there doesn't mean they get a pass on postability. It does seem like it is becoming a bit of an issue. Unfortunately the thread is really a perk we get and if people are going to use it to abuse site rules, we could easily lose it. This month there will be reminders. If people continue to send out bad books, the thread could be lost. I know in the past there were some members in the paranormal genre thread that seemed to think that because they were offering them there people should be happy to get them and not care they were unpostable, they seemed to get weeded out because people just quit asking for their books.

Christy - no one ever has to accept an RC. With the Wish List thread, it is just being stated up front that the RCs will not be accepted so if someone has one, it will either need to be turned off or they shouldn't request the books because they will just be denied. It isn't changing anything that the site doesn't already have as acceptable practice, the sender is just giving prior notice to people that they will not accept any RCs. Adrienne wouldn't have to accept your smoking RC (or anyone's any RC) under any circumstances, a regular FIFO order or a request through the Wish List thread.

When people PM me for books, I just PM back to them the condition of the books (if they are like new, any smells, lib stamps, etc) and let them know that I have cats and point out if they have any RCs that the book won't meet either turn it off or let me know they don't want the book.
