the whole wolf series is some reading not to be missed. not only do you get paranormal, but you also get a lot of history. i enjoyed this a lot.
Anne Rice's sister wrote this and is also good at getting you interested in reading what happens to the characters she creates, the difference being this is about werewolf types as opposed to vampires in Rice's books.
Dark fantasy. Interesting.
A real page turner! The story starts shortly after Regeane's and Maniel's wedding. Aiding King Charles in his takeover of Italy from the evil Lombard King, Maniel and Regeane face one danger after another. Using their shape-shifting abilities they experience some harrowing adventures, including dealing with a "bear" spirit who can possess and inhabit human bodies at will. Non-stop action and hard to put down!
This was a good end to the 3 books of the series that I have read.
Book 2 in the series - again, just couldn't get into it.
great end to the sequel love it can't wait for her next book will be a faithful reader
The Wolf King is set in the world of Charlemagne, a brutal and violent period of change in European history. In Ms. Borchardt's novel, we find Charlemagne has massed his army in Geneva, poised to add Italy to his growing list of conquests. Meanwhile, the mercenary forces of King Desiderus are perched on the other side of the Alps, ready to attack anyone moving through the mountain passes. In between live the shapeshifters, protected by their leader, Maenial, and his bride, Regeane.
In a very short time, the war destroys everything that Regeane and Maenial have struggled to accomplish, and soon they are cast into a well of calamity, as Maenialpledged to Charlemagne as man, loyal to none but himself as wolfis captured by Desiderus's men. Now Regeane must save him. But to do so, she enlists the aid of anothera Saxon whose love for her poses dangers of its own.
In The Silver Wolf, Alice Borchardt brought the brutality and decadent splendor of Dark Ages Rome brilliantly to life in the remarkable tale of Regeane, a beautiful young shapeshifter fighting to live and love as both woman and wolf.
When an escaped Saxon slave rescues Regeane from death, he becomes embroiled in the dangerous adventures of a pair of shapeshifters whose magic and prowess change the lives of all they encounter. Set against the rise of the Frankish kingdom, Borchardt's latest addition to the series begun in The Silver Wolf and continued in Night of the Wolf follows the fortunes of soulmates Regeane and Maeneal as they struggle to survive during one of the world's bloodiest historic eras. Fans of werewolf fiction and historic fantasy should enjoy this tale of ancient history and even more ancient magic.
