This is a book for those interested in early Christianity as well as the "Dark Ages." It is a drama of intrigue and cloistered women. From the inside cover: "Roman civilization was no more. Barbarian hordes roamed the countryside-plundering, raping, killing. The only hope of safety lay within convent walls. Some of the characters: Queen Radegunda: she escaped her husband's royal lust to become a bride of Christ. Agnes: she entrusted her life to Radegunda, who gave it up to God. But love of God couldn't fill her need to be loved by a man.
