This is a great book whether you're a volunteer or paid fighterfighter and even if you aren't. It's honest and not full of bravado.

This was my first introduction to Zac Unger, and hopefully I'll have many more oportunities to visit with him in the future! Reading this book was like sitting down with a buddy and listenening to him tell about his day at work. He doesn't make himself out to be a big hero. The way he tells it, he's just a regular guy with a dangerous job. No cocky attitude, no chest thumping, just a really nice story about the life of a firefighter working in Oakland. If only all firefighters were this humble! :o)
