Why would a man kill his lover's husband and then his wife, the women who fouhgt successfully to have him paroled from prison? Why would he risk arrest by kidnapping the child of another women who adored him? Because they were....WORTH MORE DEAD!!

While I much prefer Rule's full length works, this collection of true crime stories is still good reading. From the dense and criminal Pitre of the title story to the luckless newsman in another, the stories are interesting because they revolve around ordinary people in terrifying situations.
