  In the Great and Everlasting
That was, before time began
Exists now, beyond it
And shall be, ever afterwards
There is a thought.

There is a thought for a person
To be
A mote, a spark, a brightly-lit
Chocolate-skinned
Deep-souled girl.

There is room in the Great Silences for her voice to be heard.
And in a sense,
Something of Heaven,
Brilliant, beautiful, boundless
Came down
And rested
When she came
To be.

And so,
sometimes,
you may catch a glimpse
of an otherworldliness
radiating from her heart, singing through her spirit, residing in her soul
when you glance at her:

don’t be afraid, and don’t mourn
for her fragile shell houses something wonderful
for in her weakness lies great strength
for a peace heretofore unknown to you
awaits
should you dare to meet her eyes.
