Write for You Author:Janet Morey, Gail Schafers A teacher resource book containing inventive and creative activities for building writing skills - For teachers of elementary to high school to adult ESL/EFL students at the intermediate proficiency level, especially those who are intending to further their education at a community college or other training program. It was created and used succe... more »ssfully by two teachers in an adult education center.
Their own introductory words explain the purpose and nature of this valuable addition to your professional library. --In our classroom, we alternate creative writing activities with more formal writing instruction. The two methods reinforce each other. However, we discovered that in our program, our students did their best writing and seemed to enjoy writing more on the days we used our creative writing activities. We wanted our students not only to develop their writing skills, but also to experience the enjoyment that we feel when we write and to experience the pleasure we feel in sharing our writing with others.--
The book contains thirty-three carefully detailed activities with dozens of handouts. Each unit consists of:
*a teacher's page outlining the focus of the unit, the objective, materials needed, and the step-by-step procedure to be followed, including pre-writing conversation.
*a student's handout explaining the topic and activity and giving an example of good writing.
*examples of student writing taken directly from the authors' classes.
With very little modification, these activities can be used at any level.« less
