what type of writing - I think if it is a inscription it is allowed - if they are notes or scribblings then I would PM the sender and let them know. However I am new to the site so there may different and better opinions

Writing like an inscription, or signature or name is all allowed on the inside of the cover or the book flyleaf.  Also allowed are stamps (like from a bookstore) and ex-library markings. There is no need to PM the other member if the writing is of this type, and is not on a text page. If the other member objects to receiving books with this type of marking (which are allowed by PBS) they would have Requestor Conditions (RCs) specified that you will see when they order a book.

Writing, highlighting, underlining, or marks are not allowed on the text pages of any book (except textbooks or cookbooks). In the case of a textbook or cookbook, you PM the requestor before you mail the book, describe the condition, ask them to confirm whether or not they still want the book. It cannot be mailed unless the requestor replies that they still want it.

If the book is not a textbook or cookbook, it can't be posted if it has markings on the text pages.

As to PMing, if you have already accepted the request, and the book is on your "Books To Mail" tab, then at the bottom of the book request you will see, in the center, a link to "Contact the requestor of this book" (or something like that). If you haven't accepted the request, there is no way to contact the other member, as you have no information as to who they are.

Thank you for the information.I think I am going to except it.It wouldn't bother me at all to receive a book like this,in fact I have received them in a lot worse shape than a little writing but everyone,s different. Thanks again for the information.

It sounds like the writing on your book is just on the inside of the cover, in which case, it should be fine!

No offense, but if it's writing on the text, I'm beginning to think there is an epidemic of people ignoring the guidelines and accepting the writing.  Please uphold the quality standards of PBS.  It is one of the reasons PBS is so highly regarded.

I got two joke book for the boys. But all the puzzles, games ect are all completed. Was that stupied on my part to think that the book would come not all completely a MESS!!!! It was a Captain Underpants for those of you who know the Captain.

So the boys can not use the books at all. Now, should this book even been listed?

I did not look at the book befor I gave that person his/her credit! I want my credit back!!!!

I( on an whoops) had mailed a book to someone and refunded a credit because it was my error. Can I ask this person to do the same now that I gave him/her the credit!!!

Amy - you can try to ask for your credit back, but the sender is not obligated to return it.  Sorry - this is why you should always check your books before marking them received!

"...has writing on the inside page. The dust jacket covers some of it ..."  Sounds like inside the front cover Ruth, not a text page which would make the book unpostable or violate  "...the quality standards of PBS.
