Does an author signature count as writing in the book? I would be happy to accept a signed book, but do you think it gives standing to someone who might try to abuse the rules to get a free book. I am I safe to post it?

If anyone argues it, just point them to the rules. I have had to do that in the past. |

Unless the author signs on a text/story page, it's OK. |

An author signature, previous owner's name, or inscription written in book are ok if they are not on text pages. Here is the rule from the Help Center doc on "Is my book okay to post here?" .... Books that have a signature/note on the flyleaf or title page or inside front or back cover of the book: YesLast Edited on: 1/30/14 1:48 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

In my opinion most members would be happy to receive a book signed by the author unless the author also wrote a personalized inscription with the purchaser's name in it such as, "To Chris ─ All the best... Author Name". I like autographed books, but prefer that the author does not include someone's name in the inscription. |
