I thought this was a terrific book. If you want to "become" a writer this may be the book for you. This is one I purchased, after it was very highly recommended by people in my writing group. This is one book which will NOT be finding it's way into Paper Back Swap-for me it's a keeper!
Years ago I had this book and really liked it. Lost it so put the word out through PBS and received it. I find her no nonsense advice to be both provoking and energizing. I encourage anyone toying with the idea of seriously pursuing writing to add this to their book shelf.
Each chapter is an inspires the listless writer to put pen to paper. Ideas on how to keep the writer within productive as a writer. I cannot recommend it enough to anybody who feels that they have put their inner author on the back burner for long enough.
Natalie Goldberg's Writing Down the Bones is an excellent book for people who want to get started writing but can't seem to get moving with it. She gives lots of encouragement and creative ideas for how to get that pen to paper and let the creative juices begin to flow. Down to earth, practical, with fun personal stories that illustrate the ups and downs of the writer's life.
I love that this book is tiny enough to fit in my bag. When I first started writing, it went wherever I went. It's the full text of this wonderful book that combines a certain spirituality with the art of writing, but it's pocket sized! Perfect.
