I know what the rules say.  But in this case They are WL books involved.  I did get a credit back from the sender. I have the right person's address from the invoice slip-she mixed up the wrappers.  I have not marked the book received yet-it's not due to go lost until 2/11.  Sender asked me to forward the book on to the right person. But I can't find this person in the system, they apparently don't have a profile.  Senders says person 2 hasn't received the book yet.

So: Do I mark it RWP-I hate to put a mark against them since they responded quickly and already gave me a credit back.

But: If I mark it R w/o a problem-what if I don't get my book or my book is unpostable for some reason?

Should I send this book on it's merry way or should I hang onto it until I know the other book has been received and is in good condition.

This would be so much easier if I could contact the one who's going to get my book.  When this happened before they weren't WL books.  We each posted the book to our shelves and ordered the right book from eachother.  But I can't find this person.

The help says that if you are going to send the book on, you should not mark the book as received. You should wait to mark the book received if you get the right one, or let it go lost if you do not. If you are not going to send the book on, then you need to mark it RWP- wrong book.

For me personally, I would send a WLed book on. I wouldn't want someone else to keep my WLed book if were sent in error so I wouldn't do that to someone else. You don't need to do the reposting thing, just get the addy of the other person from the original sender.

I had this happen to me a few weeks ago. I would send it on it's way so the other person can at least get their book.  I would wait until you have received the correct book to mark it received.

Send the book you have to the correct person. It doesn't matter whether you can find her in the system or not. You have her address and you've been paid by the original sender to forward this book on, so you should do that.

Wait for your book to arrive before marking it received. If it doesn't arrive, then it will be marked "lost in the mail" and you will get your credit back. At that point, you will have spent a credit, gotten one from the sender to cover the postage costs of forwarding the wrong book, then gotten one back from the system to refund you for the original cost. You will not have a book, you'll also be back at #1 on the wish list, and you'll be even on the credits.

If your book does arrive, then mark it received. If it arrives after going lost, then mark it received from the Transaction Archive. At that point, you will pay the original sender for sending the book you requested.

All right I'll mail it out.  This is one reason I wish everyone had at least a minimum profile.  So that I could contact the next person.

I guess I'll just let the other one go "lost" if I don't get mine.

They are right, Mary.  She sent you the credit to mail the book on, so you should do so.  If it helps, think of your book as being totally seperate - you got someone else's book, they asked you to send it to the right person.

As for your WL book, do NOT mark it received until you have it.  If the other person would not follow through, you would be stuck with no book, no credit, and at the end of the WL line.  Let it go lost, and mark it when it arrives and you have it safe and in good condition.  Then you can mark it as received without a problem, and the sender doesn't have to have a black mark for a simple mistake that they were quick to respond to.

I am sure it will all work out fine, sorry you have to be frustrated and wait for your book : )

No it's no big deal.  I just felt like I didn't want let go of the book I did get until I heard from the person who got my book. But now I see it makes sense to send it off and then just let mine go lost if it doesn't show up.

I mailed the book off using a custom DC label.

That was very nice of you Mary. I am sure the other member will appreciate you getting their book to them.
