PORTRAIT OF LOVE — An artist with no palate for business, Margaret Masterson could create a world of excitement on canvas, but her love life was as dull as flat paint. Then a carriage ride on a foggy night swept her back to Regency London and the picture-perfect nobleman she'd always yearned for. — Preoccupied with marrying off his rebellious ...  more »

From Publishers Weekly
Part screwball comedy and part SF adventure, Deauxville's latest (after Strangers in the Night) attempts to put a new spin on the contemporary romance genre by sending a handsome male from a far-away solar system to occupy the body of New York advertising artist Maryellen Caswell. Unfortunately, the resulting story is riddled with outrageous characters, tiresome histrionics and unbelievable plot twists. Maryellen wakes up one morning alarmingly aware that something strange is happening to her. She soon learns that her body has been possessed by Sub Commander Targon, whose pals in the Intergalactic Transport system back home have zapped him to Styrex Three (Earth) as a joke. No one believes Maryellen, including her wealthy sister, who sends her to see Dr. Dzhugashvili, a psychiatrist with a special interest in UFOs. Viewing Targon as the opportunity of a lifetime, Dzhugashvili and his group of Star Wars and Star Trek wannabes plan to kidnap him. A sub plot involving an FBI agent on Targon's tail holds some surprises, but the bizarre finale, which takes place in Shea Stadium, stretches the reader's imagination to the snapping point. With a story line better suited for B movies, this absurd tale won't hold much appeal for either SF or romance fans. (Feb.)romance writer.

Romance with an alien--fun read.

When she woke up that morning, Maryellen wasn't sure whether to call the Men in Black or the men in white coats--all she knew was that she was having an incredible alien experience. The voice that came out of her mouth wasn't hers and thought the hand exploring her body was her own, she'd never had the urge to do that before...

Christine Feehan does it again with this wonderful story. Summary on the back:

"There is Always a Price to Pay." So Darius warned her when she accepted a position with his traveling troupe. And gazing mesmerized at the merciless slash of his mouth, the impacable resolve on his face, the souless emptiness of his black eyes, Tempest was afraid to ask what it was. She had always been different, apart from others. From the moment his arms closed around her, enveloping her in a sorcerer's spell, Darius seemed to understand her unique gifts. But did his kiss offer the love and belonging she sought or a danger more potent than his own panthers? Somewhere deep inside herself, Tempest realized she knew the answer. She had no choice but to accept the velvet stroke of his tongue, submit to the white-hot heat piercing her skin. Welcome an erotic pleasure like no other...
