Subtitle "A Jane Austen Entertainment" the book follows the career of Harriet Ward, badly treated by her family, yet dutiful throughout. As long as the needs of her family demand her care, she faces her duties with wit and equaniminity. But when the chance comes to escape their demands and make a life of her own, she doesn't hesitate to claim what she wants.

I found this book to be a delightful pastiche! Vaguely related to secondary characters from Jane Austen's "Mansfield Park", it stands on its own as an Austenesque tale. Quick delightful read!
