I got a Borders gift card for Christmas and tonight I cashed it in.  So everyone behind me on 3 wishlisted books just moved up a slot.

You may now stare at me adoringly.  ;)

I hope you looked at MY Wish List before you spent that $.   :)

I love bookstore gift cards! Then I don't feel guilty for buying brand new books instead of trying to get them used!

I think this is happening to a lot of people. I've been getting quite a few wishlist books lately. I love it! I feel like I'm the one who got a gift card!:)

I have one from back on my birthday that I'd love to spend, but I never get to go out.  Being homebound can be a downer!  I hope to redeem it soon, though.  Got to let warmer weather come first.... maybe in May....  ;)

Ruth- Can't you spend it online and have the books shipped to you?

Ruth, you can spend most giftcards online.  I usually do with B&N gift cards since we don't have an actual B&N store here.  Our BDalton (affilliated with B&N) is closing also.

I got a gift card for my birthday (mid Nov) and I still haven't spent it. I did go online intending to spend it and ended up spending my own money instead though. I decided to save the card for a trip to the book store. I like being able to wander around and buy whatever catches my eye.

I tried to spend my gift card. They'd just shipped the book I wanted back to the publisher.

*sigh*

Yet another reason I dislike B&N's "bargain" book section.   It doesn't, as far as I can tell, contain books they want to get rid of.  Those apparently go back to the publisher.

I just physically received a Christmas gift card for B&N today.  Normally I spend such gift cards right away, but my TBR pile threatens to topple over and kill me at any moment, so I may hold off on spending the gift card until I can get my TBR pile under control.

Read the fine print on the card becase some lose value as time goes by.  I lost the entire value of a gift card last year!
