While this is the story of Zarafa the Giraffe, the story even goes so far as to tell you of some of the other history that has happened in the different areas that are traveled through by Zarafa. It is an absolutely wonderful heartwarming story that will have you wishing that the story is longer than it is. I thought it was great getting a little of the areas history for the ground that she was crossing.

If I could give this book 6 stars I would. Interesting history as well as the biography of this special animal. I guess all animals can be pets and Zarafa proved she could be an especially good one.

Interesting mix of history, literature and lore as the author tells us of his discovery of this mysterious giraffe that made its way from North Africa to Paris, walking from Marseille (on the Med.) to Paris to great acclaim.
