An honest portrayal of a child and parents facing a deadly disease
reviewed Zink on
Twelve year old Becky is diagnosed with cancer, she is scared. She goes back and forth between the a world of singing zebras from the Serengeti Plain and the real world of hospitals and chemotherapy.

This is a wonderful book about compassion, acceptance, tolerance. It is truly a must read book. One of my very favorites. You will laugh and cry, ... a lot.

Becky's cancer diagnosis has introduced her to a world she never knew exsisted, a scary world of hospitals and blood counts and chemotherapy. She's afraid.

But a zebra herd from the Serengeti Plain forges a special spiritual bond with Becky. The boost her spirits by telling her the story of Zink, a polka-dotted zebra with the most courage and the biggest heart. Becky's imagination can run as free as the zebras. While the zebras face their own natural predators, Becky faces her own deadly predator: luekemia.

Based on a short story written by Kelly Weil, a real girl who suffered and lost her battle with cancer.
