Since there's no zombie genre and doesn't look like there will be, I figured I'd start my own post.

So has anyone read any good new zombie books or heard of any new one's coming out? I've read all Brian Keene already and have been eagerly waiting for his movie to come out that's supposedly "in the works."

Thanks Stacy. That sound cool. Sometimes, you just got to love E-bay. Other times I just hate it with all their fees and stuff.

Hi Cori,

I've been on their website. And if its the one I remember, they have lots of things on there because they list every book that has any little thing to do with zombies. Even if there is like one zombie in the book for one sentence. I'll have to check it out and see if its changed at all since I've been on it last time. When I get really deperate, I go on amazon and do a zombie book search and then end up staying up all night deciding if I want to add the book to my wish list or reminder list if at all.

Do you have any specific zombie book to recommend that you enjoyed?

I just finished Max Brooks' Zombie Survival Guide- Recorded Attacks and it was awesome!  It's a graphic novel documenting historical zombie outbreaks throughout the ages, from ancient cavemen to colonial imperialism to the modern day.  My favorites were the attack on ancient Rome, a French fort in Northern Africa, a Caribbean plantation island and on a slave ship enroute to the New World.  Chilling, plausible, totally engrossing.  Max Brooks is still my favorite zombie author.

You are fine offering the book to someone here Chad, but you can't ask for someone to post a book to you in return. It's against the rules.

What did you think of Wellington's Monster Island?  I love his writing.  The Estuary is a great book.  I would also recommend:

As the World Dies trilogy by Rhiannon Frater.  Frater's vampire novel Pretty When She Dies also has zombies, as there is a vampire who is also a necromancer and raises armies of zombies.

World War Z by Brooks

Plague of the Dead series by Recht

Eden by Monchinski

Among the Living by Long

Day by Day Armegeddon

And, although the books below are really vampire novels, these books deal with vampires as disgusting creatures spreading by infection and wiping out civilization...they really read like a zombie novel, so you may enjoy them too

The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro

Afterage by Yvonne Navarro

I Am Legend by Matheson

:)

Thanks Tara

I enjoyed monster island and am now reading monster nation. I have them on the computer, so I am very slow at reading them.  But he does have a nice fast paced writing style.

Got a gift certificate for christmas so I am going buy a few.  Thanks for the suggestions.

These 2 are YA but they were pretty good: The Forest of Hands and Teeth and The Dead Tossed Waves - both by Carrie Ryan

If you want a Zombie spoof book than Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith is also good

Hi Norma;

I do agree with you his books and zombie books in general move very slowly. I have read a couple of his books and passed them on. Don't give up hope. I do break down and go out and buy a good zombie book or two, every once in awhile.

I bought "Zombie Zoology" which was an anthology and it was REALLY BAD! Couldn't read the whole book and couldn't wait to get rid of it! I am currently starting "Resident Evil #3". Hope it's better.

Let's face it. These books are hard to find, expensive and such classics that you could wait forever for someone to part with them through normal channels on here. Since we all love this genre, let's pass them along to each other and get something equally satisfying in return! Anyone interested in trading some Zombie books, give me a holla. I have a few titles and like most, have a large list of titles I am looking for.

I'm currently reading Feed by Mira Grant and it's not bad, major political undertones, but it's intelligent and well-written. I hesitate to call it horror though. It's definitely a zombie book and worth a read I think.
