Frank H. Cushing (1857-ca.1900) was a member of an expedition to the pueblo of Zuni in 1879 sent by Major J. W. Powell, Director of the Bureau of American Ethnology, Washington, DC. Cushing remained with the Zunis for several years, writing numerous and excellent accounts of many aspects of their culture.
