Johanna Edwards (born February 27, 1978) is a bestselling American novelist and award-winning entertainment journalist.Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Edwards attended The University of Memphis where she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in journalism in 2001. Edwards spent six months after college living and working in London, England. It was during this time she decided to shift her focus from print journalism to other forms of media.Upon returning to the United States in late 2002, Edwards took a job as a radio/TV producer for WYPL in Memphis. During her three-year tenure at WYPL, she oversaw production for two nationally syndicated programs, “Night Owl” and “Book Talk,” the latter of which was broadcast in over 30 markets nationwide. As producer, Edwards was responsible for bringing in various celebrity guests to the show, including Bobby Flay, Sela Ward, and Newt Gingrich. In 2005, Edwards left WYPL to focus on her writing career full-time.Edwards is best known for her chick-lit novel, The Next Big Thing, which was published in 2005 and remained on the national bestseller list for nearly three months. Her follow-up novel, Your Big Break, was also a bestseller. She is currently working on her third novel, How to Be Cool, which will be published by Penguin in June 2007. Edwards has also written two teen-lit novels, the first of which, Love Undercover, was published by Simon and Schuster in late 2006. Her second young adult novel, Go Figure, will be released in October 2007.Johanna has been featured in a variety of publications, including USA Today, Us Weekly, The Boston Globe, and Writer’s Digest. She currently resides in Memphis.
