An almost perfect spell! Long before, the half-trained Court Wizard Questor Thews had turned the Court Scribe Abernathy into a golden-haired Wheaten Terrier, leaving only his hands and the ability to talk. But now, the wizard swore, he'd found a spell sure to set all right.

Abernathy watched skeptically but hopefully as Questor's hands swooped up and down. As Questor began to murmur his spell the air filled with a sparkling silver dust.

Achoo! Questor sneezed suddenly. There was a brilliant flash. When they looked back, Abernathy stood unchanged. No not unchanged; his hands were gone. He had paws! Abernathy's eyes blinked open. "Arf!" he barked. Then, in horror, he barked again.
