Some victims deserve nothing less than the truth . . .
Ethically adventurous Philadelphia lawyer Victor Carl usually does the right thing, but often for the wrong reasons. When old law school classmate Guy Forrest is accused of murdering his beautiful lover, Hailey Prouix, in their Main Line love nest, Carl agrees to represent him -- while keeping silent about his own prior romantic involvement with the victim, and his present determination to see that his client is punished for the brutal crime. But once Carl sets the machinery of retribution in motion, it may be impossible to stop it, even after his certainty begins to crack. Now Victor Carl must race across the country to uncover shocking truths: Who, really, was Hailey Prouix? And why is a killer still waiting in her shadow?

I read his books before. And I liked them. Maybe I was just in a funk or something ... at first, I didn't know if I was going to finish the book. I wasn't sure I wanted to go any further than the first 50, then 100, then even 200 pages. But I got hooked. And I remembered that I enjoyed the character and the suspense of not knowing who did it until pretty darn close to the end. And I was very glad I stuck with the book because I could not put ti down as it approached the end. A very enjoyable reading experience and I have already ordered the rest of his books that I had not read. Add William Lashner to your "favorite author" pile.

Great, quick read. Another Victor Carl book. This time, the Atty Carl is representing his friend, who is accused of murdering the friend's lover. No one knows that Victor also had a relationship with the lover. "Now Victor Carlk must race across the country to uncover shocking truths: Who, really, was Hailey Prouix? And why is a killer still waiting in her shadow?"
