Book Description:
Proper decorum has never come easily to Carlotta Anne Fairleigh -- not even tonight, when the lovely, impetuous miss is finally making her debut. As she waits to make her entrance, she can't help wondering about the darkened house next door, the supposedly abandoned home of Hayden St. Clair, the man society has dubbed the "Murderous Marquess." Certainly one small peek through his window before the festivities would be harmless ... And, naturally, this latest "adventure" ends in disaster, thoroughly compromising the budding debutante's reputation and leaving her suddenly, unthinkably ... betrothed! Soon she's en route to the wilds of Cornwall in the company of the handsome, mysterious marquess whose name the ton whisper with fear and loathing. Yet there is something thrilling -- and surprisingly tender -- about her dark, unreachable groom, and the desire in his eyes is undeniable. But before Lottie will surrender to the yearnings in her heart, she must unlock the secrets of Hayden's past, no matter how scandalous -- or perilous -- they may be.

As I have stated before - I love Teresa Medeiros and have yet to find a book by her that I have not loved! This book is the second in the 2 book series about the Fairleigh sisters. This one is about Lottie who was first introduced as a 10 year old in the first book - A Kiss to Remember. Lottie is now about to turn 21 and having a coming out party, when she is compromised by a daring man who is considered an outcast in London society and rumor has that he killed his first wife.

A wonderful love story about second chances and opening your heart. You will not be disappointed with Medeiros and I recommend this book as well as any other by her.

I really enjoyed the book as it only took me two days to read it, but it's not as steamy as I generally like to get into. It's really a sad story of a broken household that bipolar disorder has destroyed and the people that were left in it's wake. Heart-wrenching even. Although tough to put down you don't get into any sort of steam aside from the first kiss until the end. Which apparently the story didn't need.
It's a lovely story none-the-less.

Synopsis
When free-spirited Lottie Fairleigh is found kissing Hayden St. Clair just before her coming-out ball, the ensuing scandal all but destroys her reputation. Lottie's embarrassed family insists that Lottie and Hayden marry and so Lottie finds herself married to a man she barely knows--a man who, if all the rumors are right, killed his first wife. To further complicate matters, Lottie's new home is haunted by the ghost of Hayden's first wife: will she destroy or save Hayden and Lottie's marriage?

A decourous little debutante discovers love and passion in an unexpected way. Not from a smoke free home, though it has been packed away in a box.
