The Program (Tim Rackley, Bk 2) Author:Gregg Hurwitz
Book Description:
Leah Henning, the eighteen-year-old daughter of a famous Hollywood producer, has vanished into The Program -- a shadowy cult that practices mind-control and manipulation, led by its brilliant, messianic leader, T.D. "Teacher" Betters. Leah surrendered her life, looking for peace. She found Hell.
Called back into the fold of the U.S. Marshals Service -- having lost his own daughter to evil -- Tim Rackley is determined to infiltrate the malevolent society and bring the confused teenager home. But what is going on within The Program is more shocking and horrific than he ever imagined. And his determination to rescue Leah and countless other innocent, vulnerable minds from the Teacher's lies and machinations could cost Rackley much more than his life...and plunge him deep into a terrible and inescapable darkness.
This is the second book in Gregg Hurwitz's "Tim Rackley" series.

I am fascinated with the world of cults and how someone can so easily get swept up in them. This suspense novel based on that world was quite an addictive read for me. I couldn't put the book down and read it all in one day. I hadn't done that in a long time. I loved the fact that as the dective tries to find out about the missing girl, he can also feel the pull of the cult, and begins to understand how they draw their memembers in. A great read!

A good read. Kind of different approach - looks at cults and what lengths a family will go to to get a child back from a cult. But not a stuffy or boring book - it has humor and love in it as well.

An interesting read exploring the subculture of cults. The hero, Tim Rackley, is battling his own demons while trying to rescue the daughter of an affluent Hollywood hotshot. Non-stop adrenaline combined with fascinating sociological context.
