#2 Duncan Kincaid & Gemma James Scotland Yard mystery in which Duncan's neighbor Jasmine dies, at first presumably a natural death from lung cancer. But a few things don't sit quite right in Duncan's mind and when a friend of hers mentions that at one time Jasmine had approached her about doing an assisted suicide when the time came, Duncan requests a post-mortem. By the time the results come back (massive overdose of morphine), other things have cropped up making Duncan and eventually Gemma wonder if it might be murder rather than suicide. Very enjoyable read, so much so that I did something I don't very often do--I proceeded directly to the next book in this series!
Jasmine Dent dies in her sleep...at long last an end has come to the suffering of a body horribly ravaged by disease. It may well have been suicide; she had certainly experssed her wilingness to sped the inevitable..but small inconsistencies leadh er neighbor, Superintendent Duncan Kincaid of Scotland Yard, to a startling conclusion..Jasmine Dent was murdered.
Why would someone kill her when her disease was so far advanced and she was already doomed?
As Kincaid and his staff sift through the dead woman's strange history, a troubling puzzle begins to take shape..a bizarre amalgam of good and evil, of charity and crime..and the blinding passions that can drive the human animal to perform cruel and inhuman acts.
I'm just a sucker for British crime novels.
