Carrie N. (There is one fabulous essay ["The Rise from the Earth (So Far)"], amid a bunch of boring, self-important counterparts.
It will certainly make you think about the choice of having a child, but these stories are told from the point of view of writers, who do not reflect the general population.
Many self-absorbed writers talk about the decision to become parents. If the characters don't annoy you, it might help you come to your own decision about whether or not to have a child, but most normal people aren't quite as into themselves as these writers are!
