Book Description:
In this contemporary romance, two people cynical about cyber-love manage to find it in spite of themselves. Detective Quinn McIntyre thinks he's found the serial killer who chooses her victims from an online website. But Lucy is no murderer; rather, she's a lonely novelist using the site as research for her next mystery. Naturally, neither of them plans to take their coffee date at face value; certainly neither of them plans to fall for the other one.... Tired of finding nothing but losers during her Internet dates, Lucy Rothschild finally finds the man of her dreams in Quinn, a man claiming to be a plumber but who is really an undercover cop hunting a serial killer whom he believes could be Lucy, unaware that Lucy is a mystery writer using her online dating experiences to research her new book.

I heard so much about Gibson's books that I decided to give this one a try. I read about 50 pages and had to stop. The plot development was weak, the writing was unbearably lame, and the dialogue between characters was laughable. A disappointment.

I've liked most of what I've read of Rachel Gibson, and this has a fun and interesting premise. Unfortunately, it takes some give-me-a-break plotting to make it work. When you discover the man is an undercover cop who has been dating you because you're a prime suspect, if you're a reasonable person, you understand that the lies he told were in the line of duty and that, in his shoes, you'd make the same choices. And I expect my heroines to react like reasonable people. Yes, that sometimes makes plotting more challenging, but that's life.

I could almost overlook that flaw. What I can't overlook was when the heroine has an extreme attack of stupid and goes alone to meet a woman she only knows in passing when there's a female serial killer who has threatened to make her the next victim. This genre isn't overly critical or overly demanding, but I still expect better sense from the heroine and better plotting from an author.

This was a good story! I really enjoyed it, since I met my hubby online :) Good characters and plot, though it seemed a bit choppy at times. Just my opinion, though. It was overall a good read!

Lucy Rothschild is a mystery author and she is currently working on her newest title. Lucy is meeting men on-line and meeting them in coffee houses; she is doing research for her new book. In her book, men are being murdered by a woman who stalks her victims on-line and lures them in to meet in person.

Lucy's fourth and LAST on-line date is a man with the screen name "hardluvnman" and she's hoping he will cause great inspiration for her fourth victim character. But Lucy doesn't know what kind of inspiration she is in for.

Hardluvnman is, in reality, Quinn McIntyre who has been working as a cop for years, specializing in undercover work. There is a serial killer suffocating men and Quinn is determined to uncover the killer.

What ensues is a great romp as Lucy and Quinn work with and against each other. I never would have guessed who the real serial killer was and I was extremely shocked when I found out. It was a wonderful read and the first in a series. I can't wait to read the other books in this series.

It was great. I really love this author now. Easy reading and fun stories. Nothing intellectual but nice to disappear into a great story.

Rachel Gibson's books are always fun. This one has a series of mix-ups and misconstrued dates! While fun, the plot gets a little lost and the storyline gets a quick fix right at the end, not her best work, but an okay summertime read (or cozy rainy night).

I liked this book very much. Although it was slightly predictable, it was cute.

I love that Rachel Gibson connects her characters in her books, to other books. I really enjoy reading about Adele, Maddie, Clare, and Lucy!
