Book Description:
The crime-solving doyenne of the Dewey Decimal System, Miss Zukas is back in circulation!

Librarian extraordinaire Miss Wilhelmina "Helma" Zukas wakes up on the morning of her forty-second birthday in the throes of more than one midlife crisis. Her championing a collection of local authors' works ignites a dangerous firestorm of jealousy and anger in tiny Bellehaven. She's blackmailed by her conniving boss, library director May Apple Moon, into attending group counseling sessions -- and two of the participants turn up dead. An obnoxiously bubbly new librarian is turning the head of Helma's longtime admirer, Police Chief Wayne Gallant. And worst of all, her uncuddly feline companion, Boy Cat Zukas, disappears.

Though she's been expressly forbidden to investigate (by the scheming Ms. Moon), it's Helma's nature to delve and research, and she figures there's nothing else now that she can lose. But too much nosing around in this case, and she's not going to make it to forty-three!

One of the best in the Miss Zukas series. When librarian Helma Zukas starts a Local Authors project, she can't foresee how many things are going to change, including the murders of two of the authors. But she's also fighting battles on the personal front -- her romance with the local police chief is on the ropes, her cat is missing (maybe catnapped), and her friend Ruth has returned to Bellhaven and taken over her spare room.

Miss Zukas, my favorite librarian, is back in circulation. And already a murder is about to take place.

I love Jo Dereske's books.

Miss Zukas is in a funk-and so is the series. Not as sharp as earlier books.

A delight. So wonderful to have Miss Zukas back after a 5 year absence. Dereske hasn't lost her touch. A super return.

Librarian Helma Zukas faces many crises which include a birthday she'd like to forget, a local authors' group with far too many personalities, and a missing cat. You know it will be fun to read!

A delightful mystery series featuring Miss Wilhelmina "Helma" Zukas who is a librarian in Seattle. It's filled with unique character (library patrons and staff) and Miss Zukas's feline companion Boy Cat Zukas. This is the 6th in the series and she hasn't lost her touch. Highly recommended.
