Book Description:
With grown-up kids and a husband always on the road, Katharine Murray's nest would be empty if it weren't for her Aunt Lucy—until the elderly woman dies. Now Katharine's saddled with her Aunt's worldly belongings—mostly knickknacks destined for the dumpster. But there's a priceless Celtic necklace among the dross—and a diary written in German, neither of which Katharine's ever seen before.

Determined to find out where these objects came from, Katharine unwittingly discovers a branch of her family tree she never knew existed—namely Aunt Lucy's brother Carter, murdered more than fifty years ago after a mysterious trip to Austria. And when Lucy's artifacts are stolen, and the main suspect turns up dead, Katharine realizes she must solve a burglary and two unsolved homicides separated by a half-century . . . before more than her family secrets end up dead and buried.

Another great series by one of my favorite authors. The main character is Kate Anderson, mid forties, empty nest with lots of time on her hands. In going through her late aunt's effects she stumbles on something of value....something a lot of people want, and uncovers lots of secrets in the family tree.

An above-average "theme" mystery, about the world of genealogy and family research. The heroine is an appealing 40-something corporate wife, who has a family mystery dropped in her lap when an deceased aunt's belongings are delivered to her house. A box with an ancient necklace and a German diary lead her to try to discover the truth about the man whose name was on the box. Her search for answers coincides with her search to discover her role in life as a woman whose family doesn't seem to need her any more. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

A thoroughly Southern mystery, with clues on family trees and in ancient diaries and papers. The heroine is delightful!

The first book in the new "Family Tree Mystery Series" by Patricia Sprinkle. Katherine Murray learns some new information about her family after going through her Aunt Lucy's belongings when she died. A diary written in German seems to be desired by several people. Katherin ends up with a burglary and 2 unsolved homocides before she learns the truth.

From the book: With grown-up kids and a husband always on the road, K Murray's nest would be empty if it weren't for her Aunt Lucy -- until the elderly woman dies. A priceless necklace is left to Katharine and a diary written in German. Katharine discovers a branch of her family tree she new knew existed. Katharine must solve a burglary and two unsolved homicides separated by a half-century before more than her family secrets end up dead and buried. This is the first of three (so far) in the series.
