Book Description:

Emily has a tendency to live with one foot out the door. When her mother dramatically announces, "They've found a lump," Emily gladly leaves behind her career, her boyfriend, and those pesky, unanswerable questions about who she is and what she's doing with her life to be by her mother's side. But back in her childhood bedroom, Emily realizes that she hasn't run fast or far enough—especially when she opens the door, quite literally, to find her past staring her in the face.

The back cover says "Hysterical...A really great book." - John Searles, TODAY show. I guess I must be missing something because I could hardly get through the first fifty pages of this book. I didn't like the main character and her mother was even more annoying. I have too many good books waiting to be read - this one just wasn't worth the effort.

On the page for this book on PBS, there is one good review & one bad review; I feel like I need to break the tie! I 'm glad I didn't heed the negative review & skip this book, cuz I thought it was a good book. Not intense, not alot of characters, no deep story line, just a good story about a family & its quirks. I thought this book had some great one or two lines of insight, such as "when you don't know what you're searching for, its hard to know you've found it." I read it in a day or two and now I'm going to try another book by her. Enjoy!

This book reminded me of the movie "Bridget Jones's Diary." Simple, and an easy read. Relatable

i went to the domicile on the way to visit my mom (wondered if i'd received a layoff notice yet) and this was in my box from another fabulous flight attendant. i started it on bart and am going to read it...so far its pretty good, but the narrator is a bit immature. i feel like im reading a book narrated by a junior high student...

he book did get better and it got really good towards the end. the narrator got a bit less whiny, and the story- a girl in her late 20s who has commitment issues, a crazy mother who gets diagnosed with a lump and a father who reappears after having walked out on them 20 years ago- was a little endearing.
