Book Description:
"It was only a little murder. He wasn't even an important man. And it happened so long ago. If anyone shoulda been shocked, it shoulda been me. After all, I was married to him." And so begins the remarkable story of Bonita Faye, one of the most likable gals you'd ever want to meet. A sassy woman from rural Poteau, Oklahoma, she spends a lifetime looking back on her dramatic liberation from mean, low-down Billy Roy Burnett. In this funny, touching, and very endearing tale, she tells all--from the night Billy Roy was killed on Cavanal Hill, to the day she leaves Poteau behind and follows her dreams to Paris, France. By the time you've finished hearing it all, Bonita Faye will have won a permentnt place in your heart.

This is an absolutely wonderful book. I kept me involved from the very first page. The words just flowed off of the pages and totally enveloped me. A must read account of one southern woman's life with a little bit of murder and romance mixed in.

Now this is an amazing book. It transcends the genre. Sort a hint of the Unsinkable Molly Brown along with Cinderella and perhaps a bit of My Fair Lady, this story takes poor trailer trash Bonita Faye through amazing adventures to success in Paris. I've never read anything quite like it. I loved it.

I thought this book started out very good. It was a great love story; however, I can't feel sorry for the actions she did.

I work at the county jail and I've never known a murderer/murderess to be so lovable.

The story of a woman so real, it will make your jaw ache. Bonita Faye is a warm, intelligent woman who grows from having life happen to her to making life happen for her. The author does a beautiful job! I wish whoever illustrated the cover had actually READ the book. The cover looks trite and gives the reader the impression that the story is also. NOTHING is farther from the truth. This is a deep, rich character driven novel that deserves much, much more attention.
