Career CIA troubleshooter is hung out to dry by an opportunistic President. Operative is then sent to kill Russian Communist candidate in hopes he in turn will be killed by either CIA, Russian Mafiya or secret police. Thought provoking with many red herrings.

A first rate international thriller with a slam-bang climax. A lot of fun to read. Wouldn't want a boss like Helen Dexter!
Not one of Archers' best books, but an enjoyable quick read.
