Book Description:
Chuck Chandler has choked on more than one occasion--first as a pro tennis player at Wimbledon, then as a womanizing coach at posh tennis clubs around the country. Now at Key Westís Old Racquet Club, Chuck gets involved with the wrong married woman-the enticing Clare Carras, married to an enigmatic older man--and soon he is in way over his head. Enter Tommy Sculley, a retired New York homicide detective who has just joined the Key West force, and his young green partner, Daryl Haynes, who turns out to be smarter than he looks. Up to their necks in an investigation of a bizarre apparent homicide, the two detectives barely keep afloat in murky waters. Events take them from the Florida Keys to Los Angeles and back, as a plot emerges that involves not only the dangerous Clare, but a furious West Coast mob boss determined to get back what is his at any cost.

Good read! A little hard to get into because of the womanizing at the start but the plot draws you in. Lots of twists and turns. If you like Stuart Woods you won't be disappointed.

I found this to be an interesting book about a hardboiled NYC homicide cop who moves to Florida thinking he's going to have a cushy cop job in a low-crime area. There are hints that take you down backroads only to find out that you must turn out and go down another path. Woods keeps you guessing from start to finish.

Not the best Woods has to offer, but entertaining nonetheless. Not many books out there combining tennis pros with mobsters!

This is a light read-overnight book, taking place in Key West. Chuck Chandler, who has gone from playing in the Wimbledon tennis classic to becoming a womanizer and coach at elite tennis clubs around the country. He becomes entangled with the wrong woman, as a bizarre murder takes place ..... bringing a retired New York homicide detective into the picture.
