Book Description:
Life in Japan for a transplanted California with a fledging antiques business and a nonexistent love life isn't always fun, but when the flower arranging class Rei Shimura's aunt cajoles her into taking turns into a stage for murder, Rei finds plenty of excitement she's been missing.

Unfortunately too many people have a reason for committing the crime--her aunt included. While struggling to adjust to the nuances of Japanese propriety, trying to keep her business afloat, and dealing with veiled massages left under her door, Rei sifts the bones of old skeletons to keep her family name clear--and her own life safe from an enemy with a mysterious agenda. If Rei doesn't want to be crushed like fallen cherry blossoms, she's going to have to walk a perilous line and uncover the killer with a dramatic flare for deadly arrangements.

This is the third book in the Rei Shimura Mysteries.

A nice, quiet little book. Well written and informative about Japan and the culture of flower arranging. Enjoyed it very much.

At times this book felt a little too much like an essay on Japanese culture, but then again, that's one of the reasons I love this series. The plot is well-crafted and suspenseful.

I like this series, the culture is always interesting, and the story itself is very good!

If you've discovered Sujata Massey's sleuth, Rei Shimura, a Californian living in Japan, you know what a fun read it is. If you haven't yet had the pleasure - you're in for a treat! One of those delightful books that you don't want to put down.

Even better than the first book I read of this series.

A Japanese-American woman living in modern Japan , running an antiques business and solving crime. The culture aspects of the story grabbed me more than the mystery. This is the 3rd book in the series and I haven't read the others. It might have helped.
