Book Description:
A rescued rogue...Scandal had rocked the city of London. Colin Eversea, a handsome, reckless, unapologetic rogue, is sentenced to hang for murder and, inconveniently for him, the only witness to the crime disappears. Then again, throughout history, the Eversea's have always managed to cheat fate in style: Colin is snatched from the gallows by a beautiful, clever mercenary.
A captivating captor...Cool-headed, daring Madeleine Greenway is immune to Colin's vaunted charm. Her mission is not to rescue Colin but to kidnap him, and to be paid handsomely for it. But when it becomes clear that whoever wants Colin alive wants Madeleine dead, the two become uneasy allies in a deadly race for truth. Together, they'll face great danger-and a passion neither can resist.

I was hugely disappointed with this story. At first, I thought it was rather fresh, although very descriptive, but then it went on and on (good grief) and I really never felt a love connection between Colin and Madeline. First and foremost, it was a mystery with a bit of romance rather than the opposite. After her previously disappointing trilogy (Beauty and the Spy, Ways to be Wicked, etc) I was really really hoping things would improve(maybe she was in a writing slump?) I can't possibly understand how her second installment will be connected to the first because none of the characters were truly interesting.

Absolutely amazing. Book three in a decent books I've read run! This one had depth and dimension to the characters, who were likeable and intelligent, even though they may commit silly acts. But at least you know WHY they were doing what they were doing when they were doing it. Wish the author had spent a bit more time on the final chapter, well, actually the last page. Seemed kinda 'I'm all done, now' to me.

Almost didn't read this book because of a previous review but I'm glad I did! It's a very good book with lots of twists and turns, almost like a murder mystery!!

This was a wonderful read. Long's stellar prose is much in evidence and there is an adventure tale which I miss in many romances today.
