Book Description:
What if four authors all write a story about a proper young lady stranded at a remote inn away from society's constraints? What would happen? And how long would it take for her to give in to desire?

Four Romantic Stories By Four Bestselling Authors...

STEPHANIE LAURENS - "THE FALL OF ROGUE GERRARD"

When they were young he was her protector. Now they meet again -- and she is ready to be his lover.

Robert Gerrard is London's most notorious rake. But he once did everything in his power to protect Lydia Makepeace, igniting a yearning that persists to the day they are trapped alone at an inn. Fueled by desire, Lydia is determined to finally have Robert for her own and delight in "The Fall of Rogue Gerrard".

MARY BALOGH - "SPELLBOUND"

After a stagecoach accident, a beautiful lady is rescued by a charismatic and charming stranger -- her husband.

Bound for London, Nora Ryder might have died in the terible stagecoach accident were it not for the man who risked his life to save her. He is Richard Kemp, Lord Bourne, her husband - and she had no idea his ardor could still hold her "Spellbound".

JACQUIE D'ALSSANDRO - "ONLY YOU"

Ten years ago they said good-bye. But she still haunts his dreams... and his fantasies.

Cassandra Heywood and Ethan Baxter were once cherished childhood friends. Now, after ten long years apart, Ethan is determined to win Cassandra for his own. But Cassandra has her own ideas.

CANDICE HERN - "FROM THIS MOMENT ON"

His was a life of heroism, hers a life of scandal. But neither forgot the passion that once burned between them...

He left her to defend His Majesty's honor. But Captain Sam Pellow never stopped fantasizing about Wilhelmina, Duchess of Hertford - and nothing she has said or done will keep him from her bed.

This book is a compilation of four novellas with the same basic premise. I liked the stories by Stephanie Laurens and Mary Balogh the most, which surprised me because I've read one novel each by those authors, and I wasn't mad to read more by either one. I actually picked up the book because I'm a fan of Jacquie D'Alessandro's Regencies, but this story was a disappointment. Her most recent work, this story included, seems wooden and recycled, without the spark and humor of her earlier novels. I'd never read Candice Hern before, but her style didn't really appeal to me.

I enjoyed Mary Balogh's and Stephanie Lauren's stories. The other two were not as enjoyable. The premise of all four stories centers around the same plot; the hero and heroine meet again after a 10 year separation. Each story is unique, and the characters handled differently by each author. Nice weekend read.

Four stories from four respected authors about love that has taken a ten year hiatus, and how the characters reconnect.
Each one was just a bit different from the others, but Stephanie Laurens has always been a favorite of mine and does not disappoint; the others were just average for me.

A wonderful collection of short stories (novellas?) that have all the charm and sexiness of a Regency Romance, but without the convoluted plot twists that sometimes get in the way. The premise of all four stories is the unexpected meeting between a hero and heroine who haven't seen each other in 10 years--this means the stories are charged with an emotional depth, made all the more enjoyable because you *know* there will be a happy ending. The same premise, but but four remarkable different narratives, each that sparkle in their own way. I've discovered some new writers that I can't wait to check out more!

An anthology of historical romances based on the same basic plot premise: former loves meet at an inn after not having seen each other for 10 years. This basic premise is a good one for the novella format, since it always seems to work best for a shorter story if there is some past history to build on in a short time. I have only read Laurens and Balogh before this anthology and their stories will not disappoint their fans, and the D'Alessandro story was very readable as well. The Hern story had too much past baggage associated with it and there was much more rehashing than romance. It's tough to rate anthologies since there is always something that you just didn't care for, but this one is pretty good overall.
