Book Description:
Shirley Temple Wong sails from China to America with a heart full of dreams. Her new home is Brooklyn, New York. Based on the author's own childhood this book is interesting on several levels. First of all it is humorous, enjoyable, heart touching story. Next - it takes a good look at the problems of child immigrants to the USA. And third - the problems and how they are handled provides relevant interest for all.

A ten-year-old Chinese girl, Bandit Wong, emigrates to America [in 1947] and assimilates into the Chinese-American Shirley Temple Wong. After earning the friendship of the toughest girl in the class, she is included in the playground stickball games and becomes a loyal fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers.
