In this multiple parallel universes of the Twelve Related Worlds, only an enchanter with nine lives is powerful enough to control the rampant misuse of magic -- and to hold the title Chrestomanci...

There is a world in which the peaceful city-state of Caprona is threatened by the malevolent machinations of a mysterious enchanter...and another in which magic is outlawed and witches are still burned at the stake.

In two worlds the practice of magic has gone dangerously awry, there is only one solution -- call upon the Chrestomanci.

two more stories in the 12 relative worlds of enchanter Chrestomanci. My favorite of the two stories was the Magicians of Caprona, where two feuding Italian wizard families have to join forces to save their kidnapped children.

Diana Wynne Jones has an incredible imagination which she showcases in this sophiscated YA fantasy volume of two of her Chrestomanci books. I liked this book, but to be honest, I preferred the first volume to this one - maybe because I'm partial to Christopher Chant, and he didn't appear that much in these stories. That being said, it's still a really enjoyable and fun read with surprising twists.

If you like the Harry Potter series, you'll probably enjoy the Chronicles of Chrestomanci series too!

A compilation of Magicians of Caprona and Witch Week. Both of these books feature Chrestomanci as a minor but powerful character. He enacts Deus Ex Machina functions in each. Not her best work.
