Wizard Derk has been chosen as this year's Dark Lord, and he and his family are destined to find out how to stop Mr.Chesney through one well-timed near disaster after another.

A great read! Ms. Jones has a novel situation, and a great ear for realistic dialog in unreal situations. I mean, when the siblings (some human, some griffin) start squabbling about whose turn it is to play Dark Lord, it really rings true. Read it again and again.

This is a fun fantasy adventure. There's a large cast of interesting characters, including plenty of griffins and dragons.

A thrilling sword and sorcery fantasy. Very good book.
