A wonderful book with amazing stories of the ordeals that the people who run this sanctuary, and the animals they have saved have gone through.
The cover does not match the picture on the website. The book is a good book and easy to read.
If you like animal stories you'll enjoy this book by Amory. It relates the lives of animals that have found sanctuary at his Black Beauty Ranch in Texas: wild burros from the Grand Canyon, goats from San Clement Island, Nim, the talking chimpanzee who was released from a laboratory, as well as many more.
I loved this book. Extraordinary compassion for all animals. Interesting information about different likes and dislikes of different animals.
Cleveland Amory, the author of The Cat Who Came for Christmas, writes of his experiences in founding his own animal sanctuary. His Texas-based Black Beauty Ranch now houses a quirky collection of needy animals--chimpanzees, barnyard animals, injured local wildlife, elephants, and homeless dogs and cats. The story is both sweet and inspiring.
