A great classic that should be read by all. Eye opening!
I remember reading this book when I was a little girl I loved it. Very heartwarming and heartwrenching at the same time. It gives you insight of what it was like living in the times of segregation being Black. There are 2 more books in this family. I would recommend it for young readers.

Excellent book! Easy to see why it won the Newberry Medal!
Great book for adolescents
I read this book for a class I was taking on Children's Literature. It's an excellent book, well worth reading many times over. It's a story about love, family, hope and the capacity for human beings to retain their sense of pride despite all the ills of the world.
It takes the events of one turbulent year - the year of the night riders and burnings, the year a white girl humiliates Cassie in public simply because she is black - to show Cassie that having a place of their own is in the Logan family's lifeblood. It is the land that gives the Logans their courage and pride - no matter how others may degrade them.
This is a Sonlight Core 4 book
A classic! A wonderful book for any age.
