Book Description:
In 1776, the rebellion of the American colonies against British rule was crushed. Now, in 1777—the year of the hangman—George Washington is awaiting execution, Benjamin Franklin’s banned rebel newspaper, Liberty Tree, has gone underground, and young ne’er-do-well Creighton Brown, a fifteen-year-old Brit, has just arrived in the colonies. Having been shipped off against his will, with nothing but a distaste for English authorities, Creighton befriends Franklin, and lands a job with his print shop. But the English general expects the spoiled yet loyal Creighton to spy on Franklin. As battles unfold and falsehoods are exposed, Creighton must decide where his loyalties lie... a choice that could determine the fate of a nation.

If you are an alternate history buff, this book is for you. With an intense pace and plot, as well as excellent character development this what if book will have you from page one. A very entertaining read, but don't take my word for it pick it up for yourself.

This novel is incredible in the genre of historical fiction because you know what should have happened but everything is different. There are many alternate history books for adults but shockingly few for teens. Every charactor you meet is intriguing, with many layers and motives. But the most exciting charactors are the historical figures such as Ben Franklin. This book is full of turns you cannot see coming simply because you know that's not what really happened. I highly recommend this book for students of American History, people who enjoy to speculate, or people who simply enjoy a fascinating story.
