I've read Blackstock's Cape Refuge series, and I decided to go through her Newpointe 911 series as well. Set in my home state of Louisiana, the series revolves around the police and firefighters of a small town called Newpointe.
Central to the story--and this is a truly good plot twist for a Christian author--are Mark and Allie Branning, a Christian couple who are separated and on the verge of divorce when a series of murders targeting the firefighters' wives causes them to stay together. There's the requisite unbeliever (a feisty Cajun named Aunt Aggie) and a few red herrings thrown in. I give the author credit for writing a credible storyline. Her plots aren't as in depth as Patricia Cornwell's, but they're wholly believable.
Her characters are genuine and flawed: they're Christians, but they don't always do or say the right things. The villain of the story isn't hard to figure out. I thought it interesting that she wove this tale partly based on a real-life crime.
This is a very good book. I did figure out who was doing the killing very early on in the book (that is kind of disappointing...), but I didn't know why. But I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
I can't rave enough about this book!
It's the first book I've read by Terri Blackstock and it won't be the last!!!
There are so many wonderful aspects to the book.
The characters are wonderful and their relationship with God is real and current.
Not like some other christian books which take place a hundred years or more ago. KWIM?
And the story is great.
Staying together had seemed impossible. Now it's their only hope.
Private Justice is one in the Newpoint911 suspense series by award winning novelist Terri Blackstock. Newpoint 911 offers taut, superbly crafted novels of faith, fear and close-knit, small town relationships, seasoned with romance and tempered by insights into the nature of relationships, redemption, and the human heart. Look for book two, Shadow of Doubt out now.

A dark shadow of fear has fallen over Newpointe, Louisiana. First one, then another of the town firemen's wives has been murdered, and a 3rd barely escaped an attempt on her life. As incrediable as it seems a serial killer is stalking this quiet town. Mark Branning's wife may be next on the list. Mark is determined to protect her.

Slight crease on front cover. Good condition though.
