This is my first book by Coonts and I have to say it was hard to put down after I made it past the first 1/3 of the book. I am a big fan of Nelson Demille and I have to say that when Payback finally got heated up I really enjoyed Coonts thriller as much or close to as much as I do Demille's books. I look forward to reading the rest of the Deep Black books as soon as I can. If you like this genre of novels then this one is a must read.

I usually like Coonts enough to finish his books. In the smallest print on the front cover, (announcing "STEPHEN COONTS'" in inch high gold letters), I finally noticed: "Written by Stephen Coonts and Jim DeFelice". Ah well, if you can't trust publishers and Big Media, who can you trust? The book bogged down in too much "Gee Whiz" stuff for me. If you like that, then this is a good one for you.

Not the greatest book he's written. I expect more from him.

Ok story. Plots seem a bit wild.

Another of Coonts' adventures involving an undercover NSA team, this time pursuing a missing nuclear weapon during a threatened Peruvian coup. Brief chapters move the action along, following characters from earlier "Deep Black" stories. Stand alone as a good action read even if you haven't seen previous books.
