Expect a lot of sex from the author known as an erotic writer--and not very good sex at that. I couldn't get into the characters. The protagonist is emotionally scarred from being abandandoned by his father and he really takes it out on his wife. She's a sad character also because after all the abuse she gets, she still falls in love with the guy. It was also annoying how she was totally helpless. I was hopefull in one scene where I thought her personality had improved and she would show some backbone, but it didn't last--in hindsight it was totally out of her character and I don't even know why the author teased me with the hope of her having any useful qualities.

I agree with whomever said they would have rather read more about Jack. His storyline with the other sister Sarah held my attention more than the main story with Anne and Jamie. I understand Cheryl Holt is supposed to be a great erotica author but this was not a fine example IMO. We get teased with the horrible childhoods of Jamie and Jack but we never really get to READ about it. I think I could have understood Anne falling in love with Jamie if she actually got to understand about his past instead of just being so moved by the "earnest expression" on his face. Not the worst book I've read but definitely no keeper.

I can say that I like the book nor that I hated it. I love the author most of the time. I am not happy that the book had incest in it.

Great author but this, unfortunately, is far from her best work. Most of the characters are far from likable. The men are cruel, crude, and selfish. The women are spineless and silly. And those are the "good" characters.

The bad ones are all that and more - but at least those characters are supposed to be that way. I liked the brother Jack. Too bad the book wasn't all about him. This one was a total miss.
