Anna W. (This is one of the older Kat Martin books, but it's one of the best as far as I'm concerned. A terrific story with appealing characters. A very enjoyable read.

Kat is definitely my favorite romance writer and I loved this book tremendously. At times it was hard to read, because of some of the tragedies these 2 face, but their love is deep enough to pull them through. I found the story very compelling, the characters wonderful, and the depth of the emotions rich and rewarding. I had read Devil's Prize first, so knew of the characters from that, and I'm so glad I finally found this one to find out how their story came about. Kat always writes in such a way that I absorb the characters into my life while I am reading the book and for days after.
Regency romance between a rich nobleman, Rayne Garrick, Earl of Stoneleigh, & an impoverished gentlewoman, Jocelyn Asbury, who has survived as a street urchin. She tries to kill him, but he sets her up as his mistress. When he is seriously shot, he thinks its her. She is transported to Jamaica; he follows. They realize they really do love each other, but have serious problems with trust. How they resolve these issues is the crux of the story.
