The police procedural "Let it Bleed" (1996) features Rankin's John Rebus, a character first introduced in "Knots and Crosses" (1987).
Rebus is a hard nosed Edinburgh detective. Once Rebus sets his mind to a case, he never lets go. A problematic virtue when a double suicide investigation uncovers an older deeper case buried by men in the highest levels of Scottish government. Rebus finds himself in above his head and his own superiors urge him to let it go. Like Rebus you will not want to let go and will follow this investigation to the end.
This edition includes excerpt of next Rebus novel. "Black and Blue" offers a touch of true crime, with a rewriting of Glasgow's Bible John murders.
Also, John Hannah plays Inspector Rebus in a TV adaptation of Rankin's popular Rebus series of police procedurals. Rankin has broken Irvine Welsh and Iain Banks's records, with six titles in the Scottish top 10 bestsellers list simultaneously.
