Book Description:
On a fall afternoon in 1983, in an upscale Dallas suburb, Rozanne Gailiunas was found stripped, bound to her bed, and shot through the skull. Her four-year-old son has been napping peacefully in the next room when she was killed. Rozanne's husband, Dr. Peter Gailiunas--and her lover, Larry Aylor--immediately fell under suspicion. Until a surprise informant identified the mastermind behind the murder as Aylor's own wife, Joy--a woman so driven by jealousy and greed that she put out a contract on both Rozanne and later her own husband.

On the run and managing to elude investigators for eight years, the two-year search for the socialite would eventually end in the south of France. There, authorities found the elusive femme fatale, living as comfortably among the world's elite as she was among hired killers. At last, the authorities' questions would be answered, to reveal a shocking insight into the heart of an unlikely killer, and a small-town Texas crime that made international headlines.

When a woman was murdered, the obvious first suspects were her estranged husband and her new boyfriend. What unfolded was far more complicated than that.
This is a very interesting case that took years to unfold.
Courtroom scenes are minimal; good epilogue telling the status of each participant.

This book is so well written that I would put the author in the same class as Ann Rule. I did not want to put it down. There are so many characters and twists and turns. The murderer was a very interesting character. Excellent book - I would give it the highest rating and would recommend it to anyone.

Carlton Stowers is a True Crime author that I would put next to Ann Rule. He draws you into the story. It is difficult to put the book down.

A small child is taking a nap, when in the next room his mother is killed. Who could have done such a thing? Her estranged husband? Her boyfriend? Could it be a robbery gone wrong? This story is full of twists and turns and will keep your attention through the last page.

Good juicy true life crime stories.

Joy Aylor is one of the most fascinating criminals I have read about so far. Beautiful and extremely manipulative, she used everyone who cared about her to achieve her goals. The worst was her orchestration of the gruesome death of her extranged husband's new lover. Her attempts to also kill her husband did not work out. After staying on the run for years, with the help of men who fell in love with her, she was found living the good life in France and was finally brought to justice. Carlton Stowers is, I believe, the best true crime writer yet. His amazing writing skills bring all of the characters into sharp focus. You almost feel that you know them.
