Past all the hype with this series, you'll find something not quite fleshed out. It suffers from a Mary Sue type main character (meaning a stereotypical, un-fleshed character that the reader can easily envision their self in), and the writing in general is not all that. But Meyer does manage to put a neat little twist to the world of vampies, and Edward is THE perfect man for any woman, and that is the main reason this series is doing so well. It's a fun read if you can get over how simple and stereotypical of a "romance novel" it is. Just don't expect a fantastic example of literature.

1st book the series - awesome! I loved reading a paranormal romance without all the explicit (and often un-necessary) sex. I could not stop reading. I have read the 2nd book New Moon and am waiting for the 3rd book this fall (Eclipse) & intend to buy it the moment it is released. 5 stars ***** My fave series!!!

Even though it is classified as a Young Adult book, I found it really enjoyable. And the romantic scenes are harmless, I would easily give it to my 12 yo to read as well.

After hearing rave reviews about this series from a Mommy friend of mine, I decided to give it a try. Up until pretty much the end of the book, I found the whole thing unrealistic (aside from the vampire part) and slow. The main character is so far from acting like a typical teenager that it's bizarre. I had to force myself to finish the book, and have no desire to see what happens in the future with these characters. I read that this is going to be a movie, and maybe it will be a little more lively and vibrant on the screen, but unless you just adore vampire novels, you might want to check out something else.

I thought this was an amazing book, even if the plot of new-girl-in-town falls in love with the loner vampire is slightly over used. Wonderfully detailed descriptions and new takes on the cliche subject make this book 100% worthwhile.
Once I opened the cover I was captivated, I read this whole book in one night.

Ok, so i finally broke down and decided to join the bandwagon, for two major reasons...i wanted to see what the hype was all about and a friend of mine told me his wife was a huge fan of the series. I have never been drawn to paranormal romance, though...When the movie was set to come out, i decided to just go for it. I purchased the boxed set at a great deal on walmart.com.
I am in my mid-thirties and was reluctant, as many were due to the "young adult" genre. As it is definately written for that age group, it was thoroughly enjoyable and intriguing. And, yes...i LOVE Edward Cullen. Outside of being a blood-sucking immortal, he is the epitome of what any girl/woman would want in a man. (hahaha) Meyer truly puts you "in the book" with the excellent dialogue and settings. She put me right into the mind and heart of a smart, unique, crush driven teen. She really gets you attached to the characters (mainly Bella and Edward, even all the Cullens).
It's a great tale of love, lust, surrender, and belief. I would recommend it to anyone that feels compelled to read this series. I both can't wait and DREAD to finsih the series, so I have set a goal to read a "non-saga" book or two in between each so that i can build up my "thrist" for another dose....I will however, be rushing out to catch the movie!

My cousin told me that I absolutely HAD to read the Twilight series. I bought Twilight and started it one night and I read it all the way through before falling to sleep that night. I could not put it down, the pages flew by... I am now officially obsessed with the series. I was skeptical at first because I never hopped on the Harry Potter bandwagon and it looked like Twilight and Harry Potter went hand in hand everywhere I looked.
It has easily become my fave book of all time. :) After finishing Eclipse (the 3rd book in the series), I actually began re-reading Twilight while waiting for the 4th and final book in the series, Breaking Dawn.
Stephenie Meyer has created LOVEABLE characters that you care about as you read the books. The way she's written the book you can visualize each and every moment like you are there watching it happen.
I could not rave anymore. I've basically told everyone I know they need to read the book and I am counting down the days until book 4 drops on Aug 2nd, and I'm def. looking forward to the movie in Dec.
Anyone who loves vampire novels would LOVE this book, maybe even obsess about it as much as the rest of us Twilighters. ;)

I've heard many good things about this book, but I wasn't sure if it would live up to the expectations. It took me about halfway to really get into it, but once I did, I couldn't put it down. It might not be the best book I've read this year, but it was definitely very enjoyable, and I'm looking forward to reading the sequel.

I grabbed this book on a whim and a nudge from my nearly grown daughter who knows I love a good vampire story. I read this book in less than 24 hours. I could not put it down. I immediately went out and bought book two and will definitely read 3 and 4.
I think this series is great, especially for the teen reader. There is romance, yes, but there is no explicit sex as in some other series, which makes it a great read for all ages.
