The place: a small Southern town. The time: not long ago. Just as the quiet life of Bright Birdsong, the 68 year old matriarch of a promient clan, is threatening to become boring, winds of change begin to blow From back of book
Bright Birdsong at the age of seventy years is bored. Then a tragic accident occurs that ignites racial tensions, her estranged daughter visits, then her son,the governor, is involved in a scandal involving a local cocktail waitress. Suddenly, she has a once in a lifetime opportunity to right old wrongs and to reconcile who she has become with who she wants to be.

Humorous story of an old woman named Bright. If you're a fan of the Miss Julia series, you'll like this one.
