Book Description:
In Los Angeles in 1998, a 16 year old girl who had disappeared from her home was later found dead with a single gunshot wound to the chest. The death appeared at first to be a suicide, and although detectives on the case found clues that pointed toward murder, no one was ever charged. Detective Larry Bosch, newly returned to the LAPD with the job of closing unsolved cases, gets the report of a new DNA match that makes the case very much alive again. A white supremacist with close ties to the LAPD becomes a suspect but Bosch and his partner, Kizmin Rider, can't take a step without threatening higher ups in the department.
And the case turns out to be anything but cold. Everywhere he probes, Bosch finds hot grief, hot rage, and a bottomless well of treachery and danger. Enemies inside the department make Bosch wonder if he's been allowed to rejoin the LAPD only because they needed a fresh victim.

Samuel E. from GALENA, MD wrote on 4/13/2007...Maybe Connelly is tired of the Harry Bosch series. The Closers fails to deliver the punch of earlier books in this series. It was much more a police proceedural rather than an action book; the plot though interesting was easy to see through to the killer. I had the feeling that Connelly dashed this one off so he could move on to other things.
Nevertheless, Bosch fans will want to read this. Harry's back after three years of retirement (and a failed marriage). He's paired with Kiz Rider, but Edgar is on his own with Hollywood Division. We also see Harry's nemesis Chief Irvin S. Irving. In short Connelly delivers, but fails to hit a knock-out punch.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book-if you like his others, you will like this one.

This was a very good book. The latest in the "Harry Bosch" series.
Detective Harry Bosch is out of retirement and back with the LAPD working on cold cases. Digging up the past may heal old wounds--or expose new ones.
